Frequently Asked Questions

Honest, straightforward answers about dryer vent safety, our process, and what to expect during a service visit.

How often should I have my dryer vent cleaned?
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and most major dryer manufacturers recommend having your dryer vent professionally cleaned at least once a year. If you have a large family, do multiple loads of laundry a day, or have pets that shed heavily, you may need it cleaned every 6 to 8 months.
How do I know if my vent is clogged?
The most obvious sign is that your clothes are taking longer than one standard cycle (about 45 minutes) to dry completely. Other warning signs include the dryer itself being very hot to the touch, a faint burning smell during operation, or seeing excessive lint accumulating around the outside vent cap.
Why is a clogged vent dangerous?
Dryer lint is highly combustible. When a vent is clogged, the hot exhaust air cannot escape, causing the dryer to overheat. This extreme heat can easily ignite the trapped lint, resulting in a rapidly spreading house fire. According to the US Fire Administration, failure to clean the dryer vent is the leading cause of home dryer fires.
Can I just clean the lint trap myself?
You absolutely should clean the lint screen before every single load! However, the screen only catches a fraction of the lint. The rest bypasses the screen and sticks to the walls of the exhaust duct inside your walls. A professional cleaning removes that hidden, highly dangerous buildup that a standard vacuum cannot reach.
Do you offer air duct cleaning or carpet cleaning?
No. We believe in doing one thing and doing it exceptionally well. We specialize exclusively in dryer vent cleaning. This allows us to invest in the best specialized tools for this specific job and ensures you never get hit with high-pressure upsells for unrelated services.
